I can just picture the scene; a warm summer’s day, sat out in the garden, having a few cocktails or a BBQ with friends. Summer is so nice and it is so nice to be able to sit out and relax in your garden when it is sunny. To be able to relax in style, there are a few things that you could be working on to get your garden ready for entertaining this summer. Afterall, we don’t know how much warm weather we will have, so need to make the most if it!
First of all, it might be worth investing in or borrowing a pressure washer from a friend. During the wetter and colder months, your garden can gather a lot of moss and dirt. Blasting the patio tiles, outside of the home or driveway with a pressure washer, will give it a much needed clean. They are quick and easy to use and it is rather satisfying cleaning off all of that dirt.
If your lawn needs a bit of a pick-me-up, then pick up some lawn feed at your local garden centre. Getting rid of patchy grass will make the lawn look so much nicer and mean you can have a picnic out there. It doesn’t take long for grass to grow, so you can easily get started with it now.
If you don’t have a lawn, and perhaps just have a patio, then there are lots of things you can do to spruce it up. Getting hanging baskets or some new planters can look so good when the sun in shining. If you aren’t particularly green fingered, you can even get artificial ones that look just as good as the real thing. You could even string up some outdoor fairy lights or make some tealight holders using mason jars to have on and around the patio.
If you don’t have a decking area at the moment, it might be worth investing in some. Decking from somewhere like Timbertech UK can look so stunning and make something a real talking piece in the garden. Some matching furniture would look good set on the decking area and it gives you extra space to relax, entertain or even sunbathe.
It might be a good idea to get some new cushions or seat pads for your outdoor furniture. If the old ones have been outside during the winter, they could be quite damp and mouldy. They might clean up well, but if not, it won’t cost too much to replace them. One of the final things that you will need is some bowls, plates, cups or glasses and some serving trays. Sometimes it is nice to have a set that is specifically for outdoors. There are so many options available, so they don’t have to be cheap looking and plastic. Getting everything in advance will mean you are ready to go as soon as there is any sign of some sunshine!
What are you looking forward to doing this summer?
