Our living environment can have a big effect on our well-being. It’s not always enough to keep on top on the maintenance and cleaning; it has to look beautiful too. If your home needs a bit of beautification, check out my simple ways of improving your decor.
Firstly I urge you to choose between clutter or colour. When I say clutter, and I don’t mean lots of horrid bits and pieces, but a stylish collection of ornaments, which can be used to great effect in room design. However, I would recommend that you keep all the items of the same or similar colours. This demonstrates that it is a specific collection on display, not a hodgepodge of different items that have made their way into the room.
Don’t be afraid to recruit some professional help in beautifying your home. Not everyone has a natural ability to judge room proportions and colour combinations in an effective way. That’s why there are professional interior designers. They have trained in the art and will be able to maximise the practicality and attractiveness of your home.
A picture wall
A picture wall is a perfectly simple task that will completely change the look of your room. The idea is that you curate a collection of pictures as a gallery would. Then you frame and display them all on a single wall. There are lots of guides on the internet on how to get the spacing and design of the pictures right. Regarding what the pictures will be, that’s entirely up to you. You can choose family photos, favourite artworks, or even your children’s artwork that they bring home from school.
Keep to three colours
If you are having trouble with the colour combinations in your home, a super simple tip is to reduce the number of colours in a room to three. You will want a main colour and two accent colours. The main colour is used for the walls. Then the accent colours are used for curtains, sofas, cushions and in any ornament colours. Keeping to three colours makes the room come together as a whole and stops and stops it seeming too busy and loud.
Replace shabby carpets
Another simple way of improving the décor of your home is to look at your floor treatments. If your carpets are looking worn, dirty, or shabby, then it might be time to consider some new options. Why not try a stone or hardwood floor? They come in neutral colours, which are easy to fit in with your colour scheme. They are also easy to clean and quite durable. You can also get a more luxurious feel by putting rugs over the top of them, So you get the best of both worlds.
